This list is not based on anything except my completely non-expert opinion.
1. Waterboys - Waterboys is my absolute all-time favorite Japanese movie. I don't even know where to begin with this movie. Let's see, how can I sum up this movie in one sentence? Let's see... boys synchronized swimming, crazy Japanese afro, cross-dressing old men, speedoes, fish, and love. Yea, I think that about sums it up. Oh yeah, did I mention it's based on a true story? EPIC!!!!!!!!!!!

2. Swing Girls - Swing Girls is a movie about a group of girls, who poison their schools Jazz Band, and decide to form a Jazz Band to participate in a national Jazz competition. This movie is a little like a female version of Water Boys, but there is no romance involved, and it has a lot of literary humor (which you may not get if you cannot understand Japanese)

3. Cromartie High School - Where to begin with this one.... This movie is completely nuts, and has everything from pencil-eating-thugs to gorrilas and aliens bent on taking over the world. This is the kind of movie that you will either absolutely love, or utterly loathe. Most of its puns come out of nowhere, and they just keep-on-coming, nonstop, until the end of the movie. This is possibly the funniest manga-adaptation movie I have ever seen; if you have a sense of humor, you NEED to see this movie.

Dude. You have to check out the Cromartie Manga. It's ridiculous. I had no idea that there was a movie though, THANKS BUDDY!

I loooooove Water Boys! I watched two of the doramas too but they weren't as good. I couldn't bring myself to watch the 3rd series. Believe me, you get tired VERY quickly of the same ole things. Actually the whole reason I started watching WB is because Teppei Koike is in the 2nd series. LOL I fell in love with it though and Saotome (the really gay teacher in the series and the gay boy in the movie) is my fav. chara.
As for movies, I love a lot. Anything with Takumi Saito in it (although, I admit his movies are kinda low-quality but he's really hot!).
